These Pallet Strapping Machines Are Perfect For Your Warehouse

Palletisation is massively important in logistics and operations. Placing your goods together on a pallet and consolidating the load means that it's a lot easier to transport and handle. In this blog, we show you some of the best pallet strapping machines on the market - a vital piece of equipment when it comes to securing your pallet.

Why do I need a strapping machine?

Pallets are great. Invented in 1925, they’ve become the unsung hero of the packaging world. Without them, businesses would not be able to transport and store goods anywhere near as easily, safely or quickly.

We owe a lot to pallets but they’re not perfect by themselves. In fact, we’d argue that without a partner, they’re nowhere near as effective. Like Ant without Dec.

Left to their own devices, palletised goods are unstable and potentially unsafe. Building up a pallet without appropriate securement equipment is just like playing a game of Jenga. It all comes crashing down eventually.

Which is why, for the protection of your products, you need to consider a strapping machine.

They work by looping a polyester or polypropylene strap around the pallet before it’s tensioned and melded together to form a tight protective band.

Strapping provides an extra level of protection to your products, whilst also ensuring that the pack structure doesn’t change during transport.

Now we know the importance of strapping your pallets, let’s look at the machines that will help you do just that.

Pallet strapping machine options

There are several machines in the Gordian Strapping range that are designed to strap pallets. The ones below provide efficiency and speed to your packaging operations.

StraPack D-53PLT2

The StraPack D-53PLT2 is a semi-automatic strapping machine that skids economically and quickly, with standard or heavier polypropylene strapping.

The video below shows how the pallet strapping machine works, and shows how easy it is to use.

When compared to hand-tools, the D-53PLT2 cuts the time it takes to strap pallets by up to two-thirds. Check out the video below – where the two bits of equipment are put to the test.

StraPack AQ-7PLT

The StraPack AQ-7PLT is similar to the D-53PLT2, however it incorporates newer technology and therefore takes less time to strap pallets.

The video below shows the full process for setting up and operating an AQ-7PLT.

StraPack AQ-7PLT

The StraPack D-53HE2 is machine that straps pallets horizontally rather than vertically. It’s suited for lower volume of packaging as it’s a bit more a manual process than the D-53PLT2 and AQ-7PLT.

And don't forget stretch wrapping machines

This blog has focused on strapping machines, but the other options that is popular for securing pallets of goods is stretch wrapping machines.

As the name suggests, stretch wrap machines work but applying multiple layers of stretch film to a pallet or product. It’s an ideal solution for those who need to protect the full width of the pallet. For example, if the outside of your product is prone to damage, stretch film will fully encase the product and stop any damage in transit.

You can even combine both strapping and wrapping machines to ensure full security of your products.

Either way, Gordian Strapping has the knowledge and expertise to find you the right solution. Get in touch to discuss your packaging goals and how we can take your operations to the next level.
