When Cedar Packaging secured a major printing project for a major global sporting event, the team needed to increase its production capacity quickly to meet a demanding deadline.
Already operating an OB-360N banding machine from Gordian, Cedar Packaging knew that an additional machine would help accelerate the finishing and packing process. However, with the project already underway, the new equipment was needed immediately.
The Challenge
Cedar Packaging contacted Gordian Strapping on Wednesday morning with an urgent request: could a second banding machine be prepared, dispatched and delivered before 10am the next day?
Meeting this deadline required several Gordian teams to work together immediately. The machine needed to be prepared and tested, the required consumables had to be picked and the complete order needed to be securely packed before the haulier’s 3pm collection cut-off.
The Gordian Response
By lunchtime, Gordian had rearranged its internal engineering schedule to make an OB-360N LD machine available.
The Engineering team prepared and thoroughly tested the machine, ensuring it was ready to begin operating as soon as it arrived. At the same time, the Customer Service and Warehouse teams coordinated the order, picked the required banding consumables and securely crated the machine to protect it during transportation.
Everything was completed in time for the 3pm collection.
The machine was then delivered to Cedar Packaging before 10am the following morning, less than 24 hours after the original enquiry.
The Result
With the additional OB-360N LD in place, Cedar Packaging was able to increase its banding capacity and accelerate production on the project.
The rapid response helped the team maintain momentum, manage the increased workload and complete the printing job within the required timeframe.
