Gordian Strapping has supplied a StraPack RQ-7000MV18 Tandem stainless-steel strapping system to Cooke Aquaculture at their processing plant in Shetland.

Cooke Aquaculture Scotland is one of the leading producers of Scottish salmon, and the largest producer of organic Scottish salmon. The strong tidal waters surrounding the Orkney and Shetland Islands make them the perfect place to rear the world’s finest salmon.

We have an excellent working relationship with Cooke Aquaculture and their packing hall was already equipped with our excellent StraPack RQ-7000MV18 strapping machine. This machine is able to apply 2 straps to each polystyrene box of salmon before it sent it sent out for delivery.

Looking to take their packaging operations to another level, we installed the upgraded StraPack RQ-7000MV18 Tandem. This machine includes all of the excellent features of of the StraPack RQ-7000MV18 but with the added benefits of double strapping configuration.

From this upgrade, Cooke Aquaculture were able to benefit from much faster packaging speed:

Speed increased by 3 seconds per box
2 ½ hours saving per day (based on a single shift of 8-10 hours)

The RQ-7000MV18 Tandem is ready to run in under 20 seconds and has easy strap loading with no need to remove the machine from the conveyor line. Its ingenuitive design gives maximal moisture protection, reduces wear and tear and increase operational life.

"These strappers have proven to be a real time saver for us and we have been very pleased with their overall performance.”
